Thought I’d put up some stuff I’ve written, an more importantly some stuff that I’ve read and found to be good.
My Stuff
A couple of the papers that I have written. Rather than just take up space on my hard drive they may as well sit here in the vain hope that someone finds them interesting. If you do find them helpful please email me and let me know, especially if you want to publish!
This was my MA dissertation written way back in 2001. I compared and contrasted contemporary Celtic expressions of Christianity with their New Age equivalents – particularly Druidism. Sadly this was written in the days before our Archbishop was made an honorary Bard at the Welsh Eisteddfod.
My supervisor didn’t like this essay but he had bardic tendencies himself.
This was written for a periodical seeking papers on a charismatic approach to cross cultural mission. As it happens the ‘cross cultural’ issue was never published. And so the paper has been languishing unread.
Other Peoples Stuff
JI Packer – No to Same Sex Unions - The incomparable Packer – recently charged for deposition by the Bishop of New Westminster
Peter Gilquist – Raising Christian Kids – Good advice from a contemporary Evangelical convert to Orthodoxy
Gordon MacDonald – Dangers of Missionalism – We share a deep suspicion of the word ‘Missional’
Wallace Benn – The Bible and the Church – I was there when Benn gave this lecture, I think it’s fair to say it received a mixed response which probably tells us a lot about the breadth of British Evangelicalism. I thought it was great then and still do.
Picrilli – Foreknowledge and Freedom – Can God know the future, and the future at the same time be free? This paper argues it can, and I agree.
John Piper – Signs and Wonders – He’s for them.
John Piper – Preaching as Worship – Every preacher should read it.
